The Chief of Staff leads planning, organization, and execution of all German Leadership Team (GLT) related events and deliverables in collaboration with the General Manager (GM), the management team and the executive assistant. Cross functional coordination across Germany is essential. The incumbent ensures links to regional and global teams to optimize German organizational impact on strategies, plans and execution to the ultimate benefit of patients.
Principal Responsibilities
- Lead planning, organization, and execution of all German Leadership Team (GLT) related events and deliverables in collaboration with the General Manager (GM), the GLT and the executive assistant.
- Deliverables range from GLT-meetings, GLT-offsites, business reviews to national meetings (internal) as well as strategic projects for the whole German organization.
- Deliver continuous improvement and simplification in the GLT Governance structure, GLT communication and supporting tools (e.g. repositories, enabling IT tools and support, etc.)
- Close collaboration and partnership with the GLT and the Communication department, including support in weekly townhalls and major communication events.
- Accountable to deliver the environmental protection pillar and related KPIs, as part of the Enterprise Sustainability Strategy
- Accountable for Fleet Management, including team leadership, resource management and decision-making
- Accountable for Building Management, including team leadership, resource management and decision-making
- Accountable Safety, Health & Environment (SHE), setting SHE procedures and leading the SHE committee for Alexion Germany
- Partner with internal experts on engagement: GM, Government affairs, Market Access, Patient Advocacy and Communications – to build a good platform for the Alexion as a leader in Rare Diseases
- Ensure a strong link with all functions, especially at the GLT level
- Manage cross-functional project teams, keeping stakeholders on target with clearly communicated and agreed milestones.
- Cooperation with the relevant internal departments such as e.g. Compliance, Regulatory, Quality, Legal and internal stakeholders in the German affiliate and International/Global Headquarters.
- Accountable for monitoring chief of staff budget (related to the relevant projects)
- May be asked to perform other functional activities in addition to the above-mentioned responsibilities as reasonably required by business needs.
- Strong player and driver in all transformation projects
Qualifications
- This incumbent must have a good mix of experience, either from a consultant back-ground or from significant experience inside the pharma or bio-tech industry. We are looking for a person with potential and aspiration to grow inside Alexion
- Minimum of 10 years of working experience in the biopharma industry, pharma or even in orphan drugs or specialty markets alternatively consulting.
- Preferably strong leadership experience
- Prior experience leading larger projects and strategy work is essential
- Demonstrated experience in overlooking budgets (both cost and sales)
- Good informal leadership/influence capabilities
- Good negotiation skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication and presentation skills required
- Must be very strong in power-point presentation building and minimum a very good Excel-user

Education
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in business and/or scientific field is required
- Master’s degree in business administration preferred
- Fluent in local market language (German) and English, written and oral
