Your Role And Responsibilities

  • This role requires collaboration across the organization. The day-to-day activities require organizational capability to prioritize, review and coordinate several work streams and initiatives that provide a wide exposure to executive decision making and strategic risk taking with focus on culture and people
  • Effectively partnering with the Executives office to schedule internal/external events and prepare the Senior Executive for those events, manage, and respond to incoming mail, etc. For example: Creating and managing all customer and business presentations/speeches, to be used externally/internally as appropriate
  • Organizing meetings and Client briefings (e.g., collecting input from participants on the content and format for the meeting, preparing agendas, arranging for discussion leaders, creating communications, etc.), attending meetings (as appropriate) and managing completion of follow-up items. For some meetings, the Chief of Staff’s main role in the meeting is to listen and learn (e.g., to understand how the GM interacts with his/her peers and others, handles difficult situations/problems, etc.). In other meetings, the Chief of Staff will take a leadership role. For example: Organizing, leading and being responsible for the effective completion of the Sr. Executive’s leadership team meetings
  • Facilitating communication between the Sr. Executive and direct reports, and extended teams by sharing and clarifying information originating both inside and externally. In addition, representing ‘the GTM team’ in discussions with the Sr. Executive and other leaders. For example: Assist in maximizing the effectiveness of the interactions between the Sr. Executive’s office and GTM teams dealing with specific customer issues
  • Engaging in special activities or taskforces to analyze and improve the operational model for a selected area of the business

Required Technical And Professional Expertise

  • Organizing and Planning – The ability to establish a course of action for oneself and/or others to accomplish a specific goal. This includes such factors as: setting/articulating priorities, allocating time and resources appropriately, establishing time frames, grouping related issues - strong project management
  • Service Orientation – The extent to which an individual appreciates and values the needs of the GM. It is a demonstrated desire to help or support others and to continually improve their value to others
  • Executive Communication Skills – The ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, including clarity of ideas, proper grammar, and appropriate expression of ideas. Ownership of e-mail management and effective presentation skills
  • Flexibility/Adaptability – The ability to adapt to and work effectively with a variety of situations, individuals or groups. This includes the ability to understand and appreciate different and opposing perspectives on an issue, and the ability to adapt one's approach as the requirements of a situation change
  • Attention to Detail - The ability to complete all work with thoroughness and concern for all the areas involved, no matter how small. Monitors and checks work, bundles information, plans & organizes time, and resources efficiently
  • Initiative – The extent to which an individual takes active steps to influence events and achieve goals. This includes being self-directed and being resourceful, as reflected by taking pro-active needed action before being asked or required to, working with & through others and seizing opportunities
  • Stress Tolerance – The ability to perform well under pressure
  • Self-Confidence – A demonstrated belief in one's capability to accomplish a task and select an effective approach to a task or problem
  • Problem Solving – Ability to research, analyze, and make decisions in a timely manner to solve problems.
  • Collaboration - the natural ability to effectively work and collaborate with others across the organization, partner with the GM’s leadership team, and positively represent the GM
