The Role

Our growing capabilities now require a Chief of Staff and Venture Operations Manager, a critical and combined role that will provide a tremendous career opportunity to help build up a venture capital business and gain insight into all aspects of running a venture capital firm. This senior position will engage with our founder and her expansive network, other venture capitalists, our investors and portfolio companies, and a broad range of professionals in the startup industry, thereby building a high-value network and incredible experience along the way. The position stands apart in terms of the versatility and entrepreneurial approach that will be required – ideal for someone who can “get stuff done the right way and ahead of schedule”.

Reporting directly to the Managing Partner, this hybrid role builds, maintains, and optimizes a variety of cross-functional mission-critical processes, systems, and work streams. Success in this role is tied to exceeding objectives in the execution of a secure, transparent and efficient operational backbone and that enables the company to meet and keep commitments to investors and founders, run operations as efficiently as possible through the smart use of limited resources, ensure minimum interruptions to key workstreams, and deliver the outcomes of raising funding from investors and investing in phenomenal founders at a faster pace over time.

We’re looking for someone to ensure that investments – both into the Fund as well as to Founders – are efficiently managed through the final diligence stages, documents effectively processed, internal assets and systems scale as the company grows, and that proactive communication with portfolio companies results in detailed insights and appropriate action.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Operate at a strategic and tactical level, handling the oversight of projects and work streams within the Managing Partner’s portfolio of activity;
  • Handle all existing and planned investor communications, including ad-hoc requests;
  • Develop and assemble company KPIs, measure the progress of fundraising, and communicate updates to all key internal and external stakeholders;
  • Support key strategic initiatives in conjunction with and on behalf of the Managing Partner and identify priorities that require leadership focus and input;
  • Lead staff and executive team meetings (e.g., plan agendas, complete pre-work, set the tone for the group, and hold staff accountable for action items)
  • Manage investor relations communications related to fundraising
  • Organize and support external and internal investor and/or founder communications, including company-wide meetings, quarterly investor / LPAC update communication (e.g., .pptx presentations), prepare LPAC and / or other strategic meeting material;
  • Prioritize and protect founders time - partner with other key players (e.g., Executive Assistant, CMO, Investor Relations Team, Event Team, and/or Investment team) to optimize calendar for priorities on a daily and weekly basis;
  • Work directly with portfolio companies to gather data about their performance and operations;
  • Manage the workflows related to founder / investment follow-on financing rounds;
  • Assist Managing Partner, CMO, and other key executives by helping founders with reviewing key business metrics in terms of fundraising, investments, and operation and stay ahead of where the business needs to focus  and to help ensure founders hit weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual goals and objectives;
  • Monitor social media accounts (e.g., Twitter, LinkedIn) to support Managing Partner and CMOs ability to proactively inform investors and founders of key information they need to know;
  • Work closely with the executive team and other key leaders to design and implement operational systems for finance, accounting, reporting, and Human Resources;
  • Manage and track the integrity of all internal data, workflow, and other operational systems
  • Assist in processing new deals, including the construction of term sheets and closing documents;
  • In partnership with accounting partners, oversee quarterly and annual financial reports for tax and compliance reporting and  investors, including IRR and multiples analysis;
  • Support sourcing, portfolio management and development, marketing as needed.


  • 5+ years of experience in Venture Capital where you needed to manage operational workflow from the Managing Partner as the most senior executive down to the granular operations of accounting and reporting;
  • MBA in Finance, Venture Capital, or similar degree preferred; BA in Finance or relevant degree;
  • Govern all internal and related external data stores; conduct regular auditing to ensure data security, accuracy, accessibility, governance, and integrity;
  • Establish practices around document generation, storage and management; security and permissions around information and data;
  • Direct monthly financial close processes with external accounting team; manage quarterly reporting and annual audit process with third party providers as required;
  • Startup / hacker mentality; constantly innovating to find new ways to make the impossible possible;
  • Ability to solve complex financial problems, (e.g., investment banking, management consulting, corporate strategy, or a cross-functional, senior operations role at a high-growth startup);
  • Ability to summarize, synthesize, and convey complex information in a concise and clear manner;
  • High attention to detail; tactical discipline; strategically focused; rigorous in the pursuit of strategic, long-term value capture and delivery;
  • Experience rationalizing cap tables, deal closing documents, and other key legal and audit documents to generate reports;
  • Passion for technology startups and driven to grow as part of a small team;
  • Expertise in designing processes appropriate to the phase and stage of a business; insight into the internal processes inside a venture capital firm;
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment
  • High levels of integrity, loyalty, authenticity, honesty, empathy, and trust – high emotional intelligence;
  • Strong written and verbal communicator with high EQ;
  • Ability to connect distributed teams in a remote environment;
