The company seeks an experienced Chief Operating Officer to build and lead the company’s operations, the development of the company’s main research products and the overall Boundless Platform, as well as drive the growth of operations to fulfill the business growth strategy. This individual will be responsible for helping manage the overall business operations, hiring, overseeing finances, payroll, invoicing, and how operations can support rapid business growth. The position will coordinate and manage the day-to-day operations, and ensure that the research, product, technology development, marketing and sales teams have the resources they need to achieve their goals. Candidates should have significant operations capabilities, a strong familiarity with information businesses, Software-as-a-Service platforms, and strong skills in building and scaling start-up businesses. ● 10+ years experience in information business and/or research or products for investors
● Experience in development and growth of data and analytics businesses including product development, technology buildout and business process implementation
● Some familiarity with at least one of ESG investing, emerging cleantech or related technologies, or a general science background
● Demonstrated P&L success across multiple lines of business Responsibilities
● Work closely with the CEO to assist in the development of long-range plans, business goals and growth objectives
● Partner with the Boundless leadership team to define and maintain the overall Boundless platform roadmap, including an integrated content strategy, online platform, data engine, industry benchmarks, and other technology services that support the operations of the entire company
● Oversee and build the company’s staffing and infrastructure and drive overall execution of the platform roadmap across all functions
● Build efficient, scalable, continuously improving operations (people, process, technology) required to deliver the Boundless strategy
● Develop company operating model / staffing plans and support key recruiting activities to ensure all functions can successfully grow to deliver against their commitments
● Oversee short- and long-term fiscal planning, including monitoring and reporting, budgeting and forecasting
● Establish policies and processes that promote company culture and vision
● Lead all associated Human Resource functions, including executive recruitment, benefits administration, employee engagement and development
● Drive the cultivation of a strong organizational culture that reflects Boundless’ commitment to equity, transparency and continuous improvement
● Manage day-to-day operations and growth (HR, Technology, Finance, Operations); Drive seamless integration with other functions including Research, Marketing, Business Development and Sales
● Provide ad-hoc support to CEO in driving business growth, developing talent and coordinating activities across multiple disciplines Qualifications
● Proven success with organic revenue growth and team building in a fast-paced, rapid-growth environment
● Relevant management and startup growth experience including a deep understanding of the data and analytics industry from an operational perspective
● Strong quantitative skills, including understanding of how to quickly grow a data and analytics business
● Experience with information business, publishing and developing information-based products, online platforms, and content
● Proven, hands on experience with industry-standard climate impact data and analytics and market data systems
● Experience and ability to work with diverse array of private investors, wealth advisors, private equity funds, alternative asset managers, and emerging technology companies
● Demonstrated experience in process design/re-engineering and implementation change management
● Excellent people management skills – able to effectively evaluate, mentor, and create an environment of accountability
● Strong interpersonal communication skills and hands-on approach to operations management
● Hands on individual, with demonstrated capability in identifying, framing and reporting issues appropriately for the intended audience/recipient and subsequently follow through to bring closure as required
● Passion for values-based investing, ESG and environmental reporting, as well as building technology to make the world a better place
