  • Brief overview of this role: As our first Chief of Staff (CoS) Annabel Tomlin was promoted into the VP of Operations role after just six months as CoS, we are now looking for CoS v2.0!

  • Our CoS will act as an additional execution arm to the CEO; helping increase capacity to drive key strategic initiatives and keep the team aligned.

  • Given the prior scope of Annabel’s experience in the CoS role, which was heavily focused around core Operations - Finance, Accounting, Legal, etc., this role will still encompass the entire company, however, we anticipate that ~80% of the scope will be Go To Market (GTM) focused projects/initiatives.

  • You will be a critical thought leader and driver of change management, collaborating across the business to ensure cross-functional alignment and execution of goals; you’ll hold people accountable. Key to your success in this role will be the ability to clearly articulate business priorities while strengthening cross-team communication, reducing uncertainty, and aiding decision-making.

  • You might have experience or background operating as a consultant, lawyer or accountant, but want to depart from the corporate ladder and experience the startup into scale-up journey firsthand, from the closest possible position as the CEO’s ‘second brain’.

  • You might also have experience as a GTM leader, and are looking for exposure into broader strategic initiatives, if this is the case, we’d love to hear from you!

  • The role will be fast-paced and action/execution oriented, so it’s most suited to someone who loves to do actual work and get stuff done.

  • You will have an opportunity to become a foundational part of Sitemate’s senior leadership team - with direct involvement in strategic priorities.

  • Employment: Full-time

  • Remuneration (Including Super): AUD $125,000-175,000

What is the working environment like at Sitemate?

We are very transparent - monthly Allhands meetings provide the team with direct insight into team updates, customer stories, hiring plans and key metrics (NPS, Revenue, Financial Performance). During this Allhands meeting we also hear one ‘life story’ from one of our team each month - learning about different countries and cultures around the world.

  • We place an extremely high value on your time - you won’t be spending your days wasting time on fighting internal systems, botched together spreadsheet processes, or doing data entry.
  • We use best in class systems that are seamlessly integrated to deliver our team the right information at the right time, allowing them to get their work done efficiently and to a very high standard.
  • You will have a core and close team around you, but you will also be exposed to and working directly with multiple departments - engineering, product, design, marketing, sales and customer success.
  • You will have a high degree of autonomy, as the focus is on outcomes and not hours. If you want to block off a few hours to run a personal errand or block off an hour to pick up the kids from school - no worries. No one will be monitoring your time.
  • We are constantly working to minimise the number of group meetings - daily check-ins are all done asynchronously (in your own time) each morning. But spontaneous 1:1s or small sessions are strongly encouraged!

What does Sitemate do, exactly?

Sitemate builds best in class software products for the built world.

  • Industrial companies operating in the built world are facing a number of mission critical challenges - changes in work behaviour as Generation Z start to enter the workforce as mobile-first users of software, and the drastic shift away from traditional mining to renewable energy projects such as wind farms and solar farms.
  • Our first product - Dashpivot, is a platform where industrial style companies streamline and standardise their processes in a new digital format. This new digital format enables them to complete and track work in the field on a mobile or tablet, and automate repetitive tasks and tracking through automated workflows and real-time analytics.

What will I be doing day to day in this role?

Driving strategic projects, based on current bandwidth constraints vs demand - with a heavy skew towards GTM.

  • Ensure alignment across GTM, Product & Engineering, People, Operations, Accounting and Finance, allowing the CEO to focus on product strategy, GTM strategy and the build out of Sitemate’s leadership team.
  • Take the lead on operational communications relating to your scope areas, and enhance the productivity and efficiency of the entire company.
  • Monitor cross-functional initiatives and drive accountability.

What will be the biggest challenges for me in this role?

Pace - there are a lot of moving parts, and quickly getting up to speed with these different parts, as well as the relationships and dependencies between, will be critical.

  • Uncertainty - you will need to be able to problem-solve in the dark, navigating ambiguous challenges and finding the root cause before moving swiftly to resolve problems.
